Pixar’s blistering rendering speed for Toy Story 3D
From a Wall Street Journal article on Pixar’s upcoming Toy Story re-release:
The process of rendering the films — or translating computer data into images — was vastly accelerated by current technology. Is that all??
Since the new version is in 3-D, each frame actually involves two separate renderings of the scene. So wouldn’t it be 172,800 times faster?
